Nirmala Periyaswamy is a well known news anchor & artist.

As an artist 
Vedigundu Murugesan (English: Bomb Murugesan) is a Tamil language film released in 2009. It stars Pasupathy and Jyothirmayi in the lead roles.  Nirmala Periyaswamy is casted as a judge in the film. 

As an anchor
 'Solvathellam Unmai', a programme anchored by her is a reality show which is an open stage for people to share issues and a chance to express all their emotions. She tries to help people taking their decision and judgment for their future better.  

Controversy
There was a scuffle between Police and media staffs for allegedly hurting a media worker in Zee Tamil Studio at Chennai during the shoot of 'Solvathellam Unmai' programme. Nirmala Periaswamy expressed her regret for the incident.

As a news reader
 Nirmala Periaswamy is best known for her news reading and the way she spells "Vanakkam". She worked as a news reader at SUN TV which gained her a recognition. 

"Vanakkam" means "welcome" or "greetings" in Tamil. It is the word that Tamilians use to greet people.

" 24 hours won't be enough for any editor "

» In a scale of ten, how do you rate your projects .. 

Here comes my ratings for my short films ! 

» What will be your initiatives to get into film industry as an editor ? 

I have already done 4 shorts, currently working on my 5th short. Once I get enough maturity I'll try for feature films. 
» Why you have not opted to enroll in direction field ?

Last few years I did many graphical designing as a Designer for web pages, Brands, Posters & short film. So now I want to do the same for video as an EDITOR.
Directing is different, you have to manage all artist on location and make them to do what you are expecting. 

» Whom do you like to credit for your good skill in editing ?

From my inspirations,..  Sreekar Prasad, Suresh urs, Thelma schoonmaker, Walter Murch, lee smith and our master cutter "Anthony"

» Do you feel that editing is the heart of any short film. And do you feel that a good editor will naturally be a good director..

Yes editing is the heart of any film, Captain of the ship should always have more managerial skills than technical, A good director/editor can be a good editor/director but it depends on their managerial & technical skill its work out.

» What's your view about crap short films ? Do you feel that an editor can gear the standard one level up for any crap short film ? 

It's just a try from film lovers. Due to lack in technical things, it goes to crap list. Yes of couse a good editor can change the results & can improve the standards.

» Your favorite editing software ? And which soft. do you 
recommend for short films .. 

My Favorite is one and only "AVID Media Composer"  but for short films Adobe Premiere pro is more than enough.  

» As said by you, what is your time target to attain "Oscar award"
for editing and how far you are confident ?

There is no time target, I'll keep on working towards my goal. "Art is long life is short"

» What are the difficulties being an editor ? Do you feel that an editor must possess patience and concentration..

We have to work day & night  to complete the project on time to meet the industry standards. 24 hours won't be enough for any editor.

Editors should have patience & concentration on their works, and they should know how to express their views politely on others.

Director and Editor should be in sync, otherwise project won't succeed.
